Nachtwald is a 2D action-platformer with a pixel art aesthetic, set in an enchanted forest filled with enemies, dangers, and secrets.

In this first playable demo, you control a swordsman who must make his way through a nocturnal world of floating platforms, ancient trees, wild creatures, and hostile knights. The game combines exploration, jumping, close combat, and item collection in a dark fantasy environment with a retro-inspired visual style.

Current state of the project

The game is currently in a very early stage of development.

At the moment, there is a demo of the first level, created in Godot, which serves as an initial playable test of the general concept: movement, combat, enemies, basic interface, coin collection, and the initial structure of the level.

My programming knowledge is still very basic, so this project is also part of my learning process. I am developing it with the help of coding assistance tools, trial and error, and a strong desire to improve it step by step.

I would love to receive feedback from the community about the overall gameplay experience.

I am especially interested in knowing

  • Whether the combat feels clear and fun.
  • Whether the difficulty feels fair.
  • Whether you find any bugs, errors, or strange behavior.

Any comments, criticism, or suggestions are welcome. This demo does not represent the final state of the game, but rather a first step to test ideas and decide where to take the project next.

About the development

Nachtwald began as a small personal project to learn game development and experiment with a fantasy platformer in pixel art.

The idea is to gradually build a more complete adventure, with new levels, enemies, character upgrades, more varied environments, and a more defined identity of its own.

Thank you for trying this first version. Your feedback can really help the game grow.
